The Model 8008 Modular Controller is a powerful solution for high-density laser diode applications, particularly in Dense WDM (DWDM) systems and 2-D VCSEL arrays. Designed for flexibility, it features eight module bays that accommodate either 8600C Combo Laser Diode Driver (LDD)/Temperature Controller (TEC) modules or 8500D Dual Output LDD modules. The 8600C Series integrates an internal function generator, allowing users to program frequency, Imax, and Imin for laser diode modulation, supporting both sinewave and squarewave (50% duty cycle) waveforms within a 200 Hz to 300 kHz range, making it ideal for datacom and telecom testing. Meanwhile, the 8500D modules enable control of up to 16 lasers, optimizing functionality for applications where individual temperature control is unnecessary. The mainframe intelligently detects installed modules and presents system configurations on a large LCD screen, ensuring a streamlined user experience. A sophisticated processor enhances system control and data collection capabilities, while GPIB/IEEE-488 and RS-232C interfaces facilitate remote control and data acquisition.
