Keysight 81620C Silicon Optical Power Sensor...
Agilent 81622B Germanium Optical head
The OHS-1713-UH is EXFO's Ultra-High-Power™ remote optical head, engineered for engineers and technicians who need to measure high optical power levels without sacrificing accuracy. Pairing an InGaAs detector with an integrating cavity, it delivers safe, repeatable power readings up to 37 dBm (5 W) across the 930 to 1660 nm range — making it well suited for EDFA characterization, high-power laser testing, and active component manufacturing.
The head connects as a remote sensor to an FTBx-1750 or IQS-1710/1720/1740 interface module, letting you place the measurement point right at the device under test. This shortens fiber runs, reduces handling losses, and keeps high-power signals away from sensitive instrumentation.
The OHS-1713-UH's integrating cavity design is what makes ultra-high-power measurement practical. Light entering the 9 mm aperture is diffused inside the cavity before reaching the InGaAs detector, which spreads optical energy across the sensing element rather than concentrating it on a single spot. The result is a typical polarization-dependent responsivity of just ±0.008 dB between 0 dBm and -50 dBm, plus linearity of ±0.11 dB across the 35 dBm to 30 dBm window and tightening to ±0.015 dB below 5 dBm. For EDFA gain testing or WDM source characterization, this means readings you can trust without re-zeroing every time the polarization state shifts.
Throughput is the other story. At 5208 acquisitions per second in continuous mode, paired with the 300 µs stabilization time, the head keeps pace with automated component sweeps that would bottleneck a conventional benchtop meter. Two heads can run simultaneously on a single FTBx-1750 module, doubling your channel count without adding rack space. LabVIEW™ drivers, SCPI commands, and a COM/DCOM library are included for integration into existing ATE frameworks.
Every OHS-1713-UH ships calibrated to OEM specifications before it leaves our facility. Your order includes a Calibration Certificate, a Calibration Label applied to the unit, and the full Calibration Data set documenting performance across the wavelength range. This means traceable measurements, audit-ready paperwork for ISO and customer quality systems, and an instrument that's ready to use the moment it arrives — no third-party calibration cycle required before you start testing.
